"Long Awaited" Chapter 3: "Summertime"

Virginia's POV:
So with knowing I am going to Utah at the end of the summer, with every passing day, I wanted the summer to speed up. But I also thought to myself that "If the summer speeds up, then you will go back to school sooner than expected. And you don't want that happen." So I settled with I would savor the summer, but when the time comes to go to Utah, I would be really ecstatic and crazy. So not 5 days after my graduation, we started our first drive of the summer. We were going to Florida. This is possibly one of my favorite vacation spots because it's so warm and comfortable. I've said multiple times I wanted to move here. We were going to Orlando, where Disney World is! I've always loved Disney World! Ever since I was little we went here and it never gets old. We're going to stay here for about a month just because we love it so much.

David's POV:
David: "And so guys, I'm going to play one last song for you. It's the first single off the new album and I know you guys know what it is!"
Then there's a raging applause from the audience and I begin to sing the newest song. I look out into the audience while I'm performing and read all the signs my loving fans are holding up "Marry Me, David!" comes up more than once. I hold back the laughs. "There's a reason for the world, you and I" And I become a little confused that they would remember I sang that from my Christmas From The Heart tour all those years ago. "Every time I see you, I feel like I'm falling awake into a beautiful dream" and I nearly burst out laughing on stage when I read that. Those may not be the lyrics, but it's actually a good message. I liked that saying. Before I know it, the music ends and I'm done with my show in Kansas. The crowd roars again and I blush.
David: "Thank you so much guys! You were a great crowd! Loved performing here! Goodnight and have a safe drive home!"
I left to go backstage and meet some fans who won backstage passes from a radio station.
Marcella: "Oh my gosh David! You are so great! I just love you!"
Christina: "Yeah, you are so nice and sweet."
Mark: "I really like you and all, but I'm just here with them." He motions over to the two girls who were just freaking out all over me. I laugh. It was actually kind of refreshing not having someone all over you.
David: "Well thank you girls. I really appreciate it. I'm glad you like my music. And you think I'm so nice because I was raised by wonderful people, so it's not all me." I blush and try to say it as carefully as I can.
Marcella: "Aww, you really love your parents, don't you?"
David: "Well of course I do. Everyone should." I laugh at the sort of silly question
Christina: "Can we take a picture with you?"
David: "Well of course!"
The two girls and one guy scoot up close to me, put on a big smile and we take a picture.
Marcella: "Can we take individual pictures with you?"
David: "Oh, why not!"
Christina: "Me first!"
Christina run up and wraps her arms around my shoulders. I become a little uncomfortabl, but I just deal with it. She takes the picture with me.
Marcella: "My turn!"
Marcella half jogs over to me and wraps her arms around my neck and smiles very widely. She does opposite of what her friend did. Mark takes the picture.
I say my goodbyes and head out to the bus. Next stop Orlando, Florida!

Virginia's POV:
I wake up late the next morning, well more like afternoon. It's like 2. For some reason I don't feel like getting out today.
Virginia (to myself): "It's vacation, do something. You only have 2 months a year for this."
So I decide to take a shower and go to the pool.
Virginia: "Mom, is it okay if I go to the pool?"
Dad: "Yeah, it's fine, dear."
Virginia: "Thanks. See ya later!"
They were busy watching the news. They just like doing that sometimes. So I grab my bathing suit and go into the bathroom to change. I wear a two piece, but it's not a bikini, I don't like them. I wear a kind of tankini, but it's not like that either. It has a tank and a skort, well, by now you get what I'm talking about. I gather my goggles, my sunglasses, my suntan lotion, my towel, my pool bag, iPod, cell phone, slip on my shoes and head out. We're not far from the pool so it only takes me about 3 minutes to get there. When I do arrive at my destination, I pick a chair that isn't fully in the sun and has some shade because my skin is a little too light to tan, it'll burn faster, haha. I apply some sunscreen and lay out in the sun. There was a really cool breeze, it felt nice on my skin. I lie in the sun for about twenty minutes, but get too hot so I go in the pool. I do this for a while. I stay there for more of the day. Until about 7 when I get a phone call from my mom saying it's dinnertime and I need to come back and get ready. We eat dinner about a half hour after I get back. We have pizza. (and I'm loving it, believe me, haha) After dinner, we sit down to watch the news. I am uninterested because let's face it, "Who actually cares about the celebrity's affairs." Every now and again I listen in because I find something interesting. Soon after the news starts, they announce something that indulges me into the news.
Marilyn (Co-Anchor): "And today fans from Florida gathered at the local Orlando mall for an early David Archuleta concert."
Me: "WHAT? HE WAS HERE?!!!"
Jacob: "The concert was at four, honestly, we do not have a reason, but his tour this time around was really early. I guess he wanted to change it up..." and he laughs "No, we really don't know why, but the shows were really early. Isn't this young man talented, Marilyn?"
Marilyn: "Absolutely, Jacob! Mr. Archuleta has got himself a voice, wouldn't you agree?"
Me: "Well duh, he's just the most talented singer around today! And maybe ever has been! How come I did not know this!!! I could have went...oh my gosh!" So I throw my head into the pillow on my bed...repeatedly...as if to punish myself for that. 'You are so bad! How could you? He was in the same city as you and you missed him! He was never that close!' This was turning out to be a really bad day, as you can see.

"Long Awaited" Chapter 2: "Graduation Day"

Virginia's POV:
I opened my eyes ever so slightly to look at my clock on the bedside table, it said "9:36." I just got up because I can never go back to sleep once I'm awake, so I opened my eyes fully this time and reluctantly got out of bed. I thought to myself "Hey, at least I have a lot of time to get ready for Graduation." It was at 2pm today so I have a good amount of time to get in the shower, get dressed, style my hair, and everything else us girls do in the morning. I walked into my bathroom to brush my teeth, I was unusually excited today, I just thought it was because I'm going to be able to go to college next year! This is going to be so cool! But let's not think about next year, let the summer go by very slow first. I laughed to myself. After I finished brushing my teeth, I went downstairs to eat a little breakfast. I heard scuffling in the kitchen and whispering. It recognized the whispering as my parents. "Maybe they're talking about my surprise?" I tried listening in, but with no luck. "Dang it!" I thought to myself. So I thought it would be pointless to continue hiding if I wasn't doing anything wrong, so I came out into the kitchen. I smiled at my parents and greeted them a good morning.
Virginia: "Good morning parents!"
Mom: "Mornin' sweetheart."
Dad: "How's my little angel?"
Virginia: "Very good, and yourselves?"
Mom: "Just fine." (obviously speaking for both of them)
Virginia: "That's great!"
Mom: "What do you want for breakfast, hun?"
Virginia: "Hmm...is eggs and toast okay? I'll make the toast while you make the eggs?"
Mom: "Splendid, dear!"
Dad: "So are you excited you are graduating today?"
Virginia: "Oh my, absolutely! I can't wait for that and something else."
Dad: "And what's that?"
Virginia: "To know what my surprise is, or course!"
Dad: *smiles at my interest* "You'll find out right after you get your diploma."
At that, I became very excited and my parents could both see the excitement on my face. I was basically glowing. They knew I wanted to know really bad! But they also knew I was patient. We ate breakfast together and then I went upstairs to finish getting ready. I took a shower, did my hair, and continued with all of my other personal business and headed back downstairs.
A few hours pass and it's time to leave. I am in a magnificent purple dress with flowers on it. But I will be wearing my red graduation grown over it in just a few minutes. Upon arrival at the school, I look around to find my friends and see what they're wearing just to make sure I didn't wear anything too over the top. I tend to do that a lot. Anyway, we are outside and I'm with my friends backstage behind the curtain. We are talking out our nerves because we never expected this day to arrive so soon. Soon, I realize Amanda is crying.
Jen: "Mandy, what's wrong?"
Amanda: "Oh nothing."
Virginia: "Yeah, my best friend is crying. Something must be wrong."
Amanda: "Well, I just realized how much time I spent with the best friends I have ever met today. I just realized how much we're been there for each other and how much we love each other. I hope we always stay in touch. After graduation, keep my phone number and address, call or write everyday."
Gin and Jen: "Aww, Manda!" *rubs her back*
Gin: "Don't cry. We'll always stay in touch with you."
Just then we heard "Amanda Buming"
Jen: "Go! Go! They called you!"
Amanda: "How do I look?"
Gin: "You look fine, just go!"
We see her leave to retrieve her diploma from the principal and Jen knows she's very soon after Amanda is called. She gets a lot more nervous than she was before. I try to calm her down. As we see people leaving, Jen gets even more uptight.
Gin: "It's alright. You're fine. You just have to walk out on that stage and smile. There's no reason to be nervous. It's not like your making a speech to thousands of people."
Jen: "You know what, you're right."
Principal: "Jennifer Cinatra!"
Jen smiles at me and says "You're almost up" I see put her smile on and walk out into the light to get her diploma. I breathe in an out very deeply as more people retrieve their diplomas. I say "Just follow what you told Jennifer." Because it's easier said than done, but nevertheless, I calm down.
Principal: "Virginia Presley."
I put on my best smile, take on more deep breath and walk out into the light. I look out into the audience and see my parents smiling at me. I shake the principal's hand and said "Thank you." And then there's a roaring applause. I continue smiling after I get off stage to meet with my friends. They say "Ahhh! Can you believe we just graduated!" I laugh and say "No! It didn't feel like I thought it would feel." I felt really excited like I could do anything, but then I realized "Dad has to tell me now."
I run out into the crowd and say "Hey Dad!" and give him a big hug.
Dad: "Hey, how's my graduate?"
Gin: "Very good...now..."
Dad: "Now what?"
Mom grins at Dad and he gestures to me as if to tell me to repeat the last part of my inferred question...
Gin: "Is there something you need to tell me now?"
Dad: "Yes, I believe there is."
I see him reach into his jacket pocket and take out 3 plane tickets. I wonder what they must be for. I thought for vacation first, but I don't know where, we usually drive. I become intrigued.
Gin: "Where is that to?"
Dad: "I know you love this guy David Archuleta."
Gin: "YESSSS!!!"
Dad: "And you've been wanting to go to Utah for a few years now..."
Gin: "Dad! You didn't!!!!!"
Dad: "At the end of the summer, we're going to Utah! But it's going to overlap with school...so we wanted you to try out the school just for one day and see how you like it."
Gin: "Well okay then!!! I'd like to try to meet some people there. I heard they were really nice. OH MY GOSH! THANK YOU SO MUCH MOM AND DAD! I LOVE YOU!"
I give them both a kiss and turn away. My smile increases by at least 190%! My friends see my joy and they smile.
Amanda: "You know now?"
Gin: "YOU WERE IN ON IT?!"
Jen: "Well yeah. Your parents asked us if they should do it. We told them yes."
Gin: *grabs them both by the shoulders and pulls them in for a tight hug* "OH MY GOSH! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH! THANK YOU FOR TELLING THEM! I have the best friends in the world."

"Long Awaited" Chapter 1: "Last Day"

"Last Day"
Virginia's POV:

Virginia has just gotten out of school. It's the last day of school and she can't wait to finally be able to relax, stay up late for a change, and not have any homework to do. She gets excited when she's musing to herself "It's finally summer!" She is overwhelmed with the feeling of jumping into a pool with her bathing suit on. Gosh, she can not wait to get into that pool and feel the nice, warm water over her skin after so long. "Florida, here we come!" She has her whole summer planned out. But then something hits her, "Oh my gosh, I have my graduation tomorrow!" Just as that thought passes into her head, she realizes someone is sneaking up behind her, they know she's entranced by her own thoughts.
Jennifer: *taps Gin on the shoulder*
Virginia: *jumps* "Hey, Jen! You know you shouldn't scare me like that!"
Amanda and Jennifer: *laughs*
Jennifer: "Oh, but it's just so fun to fool around with you!"
Amanda: "Yeah, lighten up!"
Virginia: "You know what, it is kind of funny." *laughs awkwardly*
Amanda: "So, can you believe we're going to graduate tomorrow?!"
Jennifer: "Oh my gosh, I didn't even think about that! Hey, will you guys come over to my house and help me decide what to wear?"
Virginia and Amanda in unison say "Of course."
Virginia: "But only if you help me."
Jennifer: "I'll come over to your house as soon as you finish helping me decide."
Amanda: "I'm not sure I'll be able to help."
Virginia: "Why???"
Amanda: "Well, what time are you expecting?"
Virginia: "Seven, eight?"
Amanda: "Oh, strike that, we'll be okay then."
Jennifer: "Do you now what you are gonna wear tomorrow?"
Amanda: "Yeah, I had it planned out for weeks now. The cutest outfit in my closet." Amanda always was like that. She knew when the get everything ready. I actually thought of it for a long time, but never finished that idea. I guess I was too focused on finals and summer thoughts to get out a graduation outfit.
As we approached a sea foam green house with white shingles, I stopped my friends and said my good-byes. It was my house.
Virginia: "Oh, that's my house. I gotta go. See you guys later."
Amanda: "See you!"
Jennifer: "Can't wait to figure out what I'll wear tomorrow!"
Virginia: *giggles* "See ya then, besties!"
As I left, I could hear Jen and Amanda trying to decide what to wear. They were talking about what was in Jen's closet. I hopped up my little hill to the front door. Finally home from the last day of school! I announced my arrival at the house "Mom, Dad, I'm home!" I dropped my bookbag in the living room of our house and went into the kitchen to see if I could go get a snack. As I walked around the bend into the heart of the home, I saw my parents whispering to each other. I was wondering about what. My Dad saw me and tapped my Mom on the shoulder, he smiled an usual smile at me. I became uncomfortable and intrigued.
Virginia: "Dad, what's going on?"
Dad: "Well, we have a surprise for you, but you'll have to wait until tomorrow to know."
Virginia: "You tell me now! You know I'm not good with stuff like that!"
Mom: "I'm sorry, but it will be a better feeling tomorrow.."
Virginia: "Alright Parents, I trust you, I'll just try to cope with not knowing. I'll write about in my diary--which you know nothing about so..."
With spilling my secretive diary, I ran upstairs to my room to hide it in a different place. I jogged back down the stairs to finish my chat with my parents.
Mom: "You really look like you wanna know."
Virginia: "No, I'm good for now...I'll just wait until tomorrow."
Dad: "If you're sure."
The rest of the last day of school went by very slow as if to say "Gin, you'll just wait longer now." I got a little angry when that though passed through my head, Mother Nature doesn't want me to know for so long. So I didn't stay up late that night. I didn't want to extend the day even more than it already lingered on. I wrote in my diary right before I went to sleep. I listened to my iPod, some of my favorite songs, and then I gradually fell asleep. I had a great dream that night.
