"Long Awaited" Chapter 8: "Telephone"

James' POV:
???: "Hello, who may I ask is calling?"
Me: "James, your friend!"
???: "Hey, James! Shouldn't you be in school right now or something?"
Me: "I kind of am, I sneaked out to the bathroom."
???: *laughing* "Are you at lunch right now?"
Me: "Yeah! I wouldn't call you during class!"
???: "Good, so what did you have to tell me, Brother?"
Me: "Well, where are you right now?"
???: "We've been in New York for a few days. but soon we're going to Massachusetts."
Me: "When will you be in Utah again?"
???: "Ummm, one second, James"
I hear a little conversing in the background with other people. I can't make out what they're saying, but I listen really closely to see if I could make out any words, no use.
???: "Why?"
Me: "Well, I just want to know when I'll see you again. I miss you."
???: "Aww, I miss you too. Well, we'll be heading back to Utah in a few days, like 4."
Me: *gasps* "That's perfect!"

Virginia's POV:
As I continue talking to my new friends, I notice James is still gone. I start becoming suspicious like "Why is he gone so long?" But I cast it aside, maybe someone called him to the office or he had to go to his locker for something.

James' POV:
???: "What do you mean 'perfect.' For what?"
Me: "Ummm, you'll find out when you get here, okay?"
???: "You know I don't like when you do that! Now you made me anxious!"
Me: "Fine, do you want to come to a fireside to celebrate your return back?"
???: "Of course!!!"
Me: "Great! I'll set it up withe everyone and they'll be excited to see you're coming back!"
???: "Oh James, I'm sorry, I have to go. Thanks for the fireside and talking to me! I really needed to talk to a friend!"
Me: "No problem, man. See you soon!"
Just as I hang up with him, some guy walks in and sees me hanging up my phone. They look at me like I'm crazy and say "You're talking to someone on your cell phone, in the bathroom? That's kind of odd, but that's you!" I laugh and say "It was a private call." I leave the bathroom and sneak back out to the lunch table trying not to get noticed. Before I reach the table, I compose myself and put on a face that every recognizes from me.

Omniscient POV:
Virginia sees James coming back to the table. He has been in the bathroom for like 10 minutes, that's a long time...especially for a guy.
Veronica: "What? Did you have a trouble in there or something, James?"
James: "Nah, I just had to take care of something."
Just as she thought, nothing I should be concerned about, but what does Virginia find herself asking?
Virginia: "Like what?"
James: "My mom called my cell phone. She needed to tell me something."
Virginia: "Okay" and she nervously laughs out loud to cover-up her obvious suspicion. Luckily, her lovely new friends pay no attention to the way she spoke to James. She's thankful for that. The friends just go back to talking with Kevin's occasional random words. At one point, she thought that Kevin may have Tourettes and asked James if he did. He laughed so loud you could not believe. Kevin, thankfully, was not offended.
About 5 minutes after James arrived back at the table, they had to go back to class and get ready for 6th period. Virginia did not know her way around the school yet, so it's great that Cody had the same class she did at the same time. Cody escorted her to class. They talked on the way there.

Virginia's POV:
Me: "Cody, who's our teacher for this class?"
Cody: "Mrs. McGullivry."
Me: "Woah! Is she Irish or what?"
Cody: "She's actually from Ireland and just came here like 10 years ago."
Me: "Are you for real?"
Cody: "Yeah!"
Me: "So what's she like? Nice? Strict?"
Cody: "Oh, she's both. She's really nice, but she's also strict. She taught David for a while."
Me: "ohhhh, me likey!" and we both giggle
As we go enter the classroom of Mrs. McGullivry, I see that he is right. She is very warm and welcoming. She wants me to feel at home.

We go through the rest of the classes for the day and meet up with my new friends after school. Jessica suggests that we all exchange phone numbers so we can talk and text once I go back to New York. I told them at lunch I only have 2 days at the school. So James, Jessica, Veronica, Casey, Kevin, and Cody exchange numbers with me.

"Long Awaited" Chapter 7: "Lunchtime"

Virginia's POV:
The two other kids are looking at me like a foreign object. I know they had no clue their friends were going to bring the new kid to lunch. I hope they aren't conceited, they don't look like it. The taller boy's face becomes much softer than when I first saw him to right before he spoke his first words in front of me.
Cody: "James, how about you introduce Kevin and I to your new friend?"
James: "Oh right!" Acting like he completely forgot they didn't know me. "Maybe he did forget," I think quietly to myself.
Jessica: "Cody and Kevin, Virginia...Virginia, this is Kevin and Cody."
Me: "Wait., which one's which?"
Veronica: "The taller one is Cody, the shorter one is Kevin."
Me: "Ahh okay. Gosh, I have to learn so many new names!!!" I put on an exasperated accent and laugh.
Kevin: "Well, I think we should get to know you."
Me: "Alright."
Cody: "Where are you from?"
Me: "New York."
Jessica: "Oh wow, that far away?? It must've taken forever for you to drive here!"
Me: "Well actually, we flew here."
Veronica: "Cool. I didn't know that. How long are you staying?"
Me: "Well, we only have a little over a week left."
Kevin: "Ahhh man!!" He said out loud, but the way he looked after kind of made me think he didn't want to say it out loud. He looked terrified. I look around very confused like "What just happened?" as the others laugh.
Cody: "That's my Kevin! Random and unintentionally that way at the same time!"
Me: "Gosh, I know what that feels like!!! Anyway, any more questions?"
James, Cody, and Veronica burst out with 6 more at the same time. I rub my head and say "Gosh! This feels like a test!!! Worse than a test!!" And they laugh really hard.
Throughout the lunch period, I get to know James, Veronica, Jessica, Cody, and Kevin. They ask my questions like a train flying through a station, one right after the other. Boom, boom, boom! Kevin randomly bursts out with a question I was waiting to answer.
Kevin: "Virginia, why did you say you can here again" staring at something on me.
Me: "What do you mean?"
Kevin purses his lips, grins at me, and shakes his head a little. "That necklace!"
Me: "Uh-oh, you got me!"
Cody: "What necklace?"
Kevin: "She's wearing it!!"
Jessica, Veronica, and James look at me like "I didn't see anything" and then look at the necklace and laugh so hard they might have wet their pants...
Veronica: "David Archuleta?!? Are you SERIOUS?!?"
Me: "You don't like him?"
Jessica: "Oh course we like him! What person here doesn't??"
James begins looking around, trying to come up with something to say, but doesn't.
Kevin: "You like David Archuleta?"
Me: "Do I LIKE HIM?! I love him!"
Cody: "Well that's another thing we all have in common."
Another girl comes over to the table when they hear Kevin yell "David Archuleta" and see the new girl sitting nearby. She was very pretty. She had brownish, curly hair and brown eyes. She had a beautiful smile too.
Casey: "David Archuleta, you say?"
Kevin: "Yeah, we're just talking to the new girl."
Casey: "Aww, well that's really sweet! Isn't he just amazing?"
Me: "Oh yeah! He is just spectacular!"
Casey sneaks into the table and sits down. She's a sweet girl, who loves to talk. I really learn to like her. Now, from this lovely experience in Utah, I don't want to leave.
Until nearing the end of lunch, James excuses himself. He says he'll be right back. I think "He drank a lot of water, probably has to go the bathroom..." and I giggle slightly.

James's POV:
Me: "Excuse me, I'll be right back."
Casey: "You're excused"
Before I get up from leaving the table, I make sure I have my phone in my book bag. I start going over the entire conversation I had with Virginia and the rest of the gang at lunch.
Me: "Gosh, she's perfect!" I whisper to myself, musing deep in thought, as I enter the bathroom. "Just not for me... But I know who she'd be perfect for." I go to the bathroom, wash my hands and get ready for what I'm about to do. I can't believe I'm going to do this, but she's perfect for him. I take out my cell phone after I know nobody is coming in the bathroom. I want to lock the door, but there's no lock. I scroll to contacts down to the guy I must speak with at the moment.
