"Long Awaited" Chapter 38: "A Dream Come True"

David's POV:
I signal the band to play the song Virginia and I decided was "Our Song." Luckily, the instructor to the band was looking over at me at the moment and he saw my signal that we set up before tonight. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Fredrick, the instructor, turn around and start conducting his band.
Me: "Well, how about this." I pull the ring out of my pocket and get down on one knee in front of her.
Virginia: "You're not saying this, are you?" I begin skeptically.
I look directly into her eyes and without blinking I say it. "Why would I joke about something like this?"
Virginia: "You...wouldn't..." her mouth drops open with realization of what I'm doing.
I continue staring into her eyes and ask her officially, "Virginia Presley, will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?"
Virginia: "WHAT?" I begin crying
Me: "Will you?" I ask her again.
Virginia: "ARE YOU KIDDING ME? YES!"
When she says that she slides off the chair and gives me a gigantic embrace, like she hadn't seen me in months and I could feel the warm tears on the back of neck. I really didn't know what to do except hug back and all I could muster out of my mouth was "Thank you." At this point, now more than ever, all eyes are fixated on us. I could hear the "awwws" from every which way in the room. Soon after the extended embrace, we go back to eating. Virginia kept looking up at me and smiling at me. I could hear her say one thing in the next 10 minutes, "I'll be forever yours," and I was so touched. After 10 minutes had passed, she excused herself from the table to go to the bathroom.

Virginia's POV:
In the bathroom:
Me: "Oh my GOD! I'm engaged!" I start freaking out to myself. I didn't know what to make of this. I was really excited to be David's wife, especially because I had loved him since the time I was 11. This was literally a dream come true, similar to a fairy tale. When I was little, I never believed life was a fairytale, but could it be that I was wrong? That life is what you make it to be and if you believe in it enough, you can make anything happen. I had so much faith that David and I would someday meet and fall in love and this was exactly what I was hoping for. This was the start of the rest of my life. I look down at the ring on my finger and start crying even harder than I had before. "Everything is going to change now," but I never had given much thought to why I said that or what it meant. I picked up my phone and dialed my friend Allison's number. She would be so happy to hear this.
Allison: "Gin! Hey, what's up?"
Me: "I'M ENGAGED!"
Allison: "WHAT?"
Me: "You heard me right! David proposed tonight!!"
Allison: "Oh my God! I am so happy for you! You must be like in a state of shock or something!"
Me: "You got that right, Alli! I can not believe it! I am still wondering if this is a dream."
Allison: "I bet! It's kind of indescribable to have a dream come true, I imagine!"
Me: "So correct! If you were in my place, you would be like dying right now."
Allison: "I can only guess. The man you've loved for so long finally popped the question and you are going to get married. It's like a fairytale!"
Me: "I was just saying that!"
We talk for a little while longer and soon enough, I have to go back to dinner with my fiancée! Oh my gosh, that is just impossible to think about.
David Archuleta was my fiancée!
