"Long Awaited" Chapter 10: "Secrets Revealed"

Virginia's POV:
After I taped the note onto the television screen of their room, I grabbed everything I needed and headed out the door once more.
"Woah, de ja vu" I said to myself. This is almost exactly what I did just a little less than a week ago. But as I stood there, I realized "Wait, you have to be somewhere, move!" So I start walking once more instead of standing in the middle of the hallway like an idiot. Headed to Temple Square

James' POV:
At Temple Square:
Cody: "Why did we want to show Virginia around the town again?"
Me: "Oh, we just wanted to show her some places we usually go, make Utah feel like home."
Kevin: "You mean make her want it to be home?"
Jessica: "Pretty sure that's what he meant." She shakes her head at James.
Veronica: "I don't know why, but I feel like there should be something else. This seems like a really out-of-the-blue tour, don't you think, Casey?"
Casey: "Yeah, like we should still be sleeping, but we're going to give a tour of the town to the new girl? When did you come up with this idea, James?"
Me: "A few days ago, I wanted to do an activity together that all of us could do. Not roller blading because Kevin can't, or video arcades because the girls don't like that much."
Jessica: "I like video games, well, some..."
Me: "Well then we'll keep that in mind next time"
For the next few minutes, I'm standing there...pale face, horror-stricken at 'I feel like there should be something else,' because there was something else and I should tell them, but maybe tomorrow would be a better day because then they wouldn't have time to get angry with me because he would be here tomorrow. Just then, I receive a phone call from the guy I've been thinking about for so long. I get nervous because I don't want to answer too late. I pick up the phone in front of my other friends.
Jessica: *whispering* "Who is it?!"
Me: "Hold on one second, man...Jess, I'll be right back!"
Jessica: "Fine, don't have to get so snooty" and she makes her friends laugh.
I walk across the street so no one would bother me with whoever was on the phone.
???: "Hey James, we still on for a fireside tomorrow?"
Me: "Oh right, I said I had to discuss it with my friends."
???: "Why? You didn't yet?"
Me: "Well, not yet, but I want it to be like a surprise. I'm with my friends right now, I am going to set it up now and tell them to call all their friends and so on, so forth."
???: "You sure it won't be too much trouble? I don't want to be a bother...or show up unexpectedly."
Me: "Man! You're always welcome in Utah! Don't worry! Everything will be fine." I choke on my words and say to myself in my head "I hope."
???: "You sure, we don't have to have the fireside."
Me: "It's fine!! See, I have to go talk to the group, see you tomorrow?"
???: "See you and thanks."
Me: "No problem. Thank you."
I walk back over to my friends and they stare at me like "What was that about?" And I have to explain everything to them now because they've seen part of it and they need to know.
Me: "I have to talk to you guys, confirm something."
Veronica: "So who was it? What happened?"
Me: "That's kind of what I wanted to talk to you about now." I sit them down and start from the beginning, from the telephone call in the bathroom and what I said to this new call and the whole situation from the last few days. They seemed very excited to have him come back to Utah because everyone missed him. They wanted to see how he was doing and everything. But then I tell them about the fireside tomorrow and Veronica flips.
Veronica: "okay, so let me get this straight...some guy who we all love is coming home and you tell us today that we're going to see him, well we have to get on the phone and call his friends and tell them about this so they know a head of time!!"
Me: "Just, can you do it at like 4, when we end the tour with Virginia?"
Virginia: "What?"
Me: "Oh hey, Virginia!" I jump a little and start to blush and get nervous at the same time.
Virginia: "So what were you talking about?"
Jessica: "Nothing really...just..."
Veronica: "Shut up!"
Virginia: "Why aren't you telling me?"
Cody: "It's a surprise! Don't worry, you'll find out soon enough!"
Virginia: "Not another surprise!"

"Long Awaited" Chapter 9: "A Hardship and A Surprise"

James's POV:
Later in the night as I'm walking home from school, I get the chance to think more clearly in what I had done. "Was this the right thing?" "Should I have done that?" And then my thoughts pass through my head like a bunch of train cars heading to its doom. "No, it wasn't right." "I should not have done that." I am overcome with feelings and become really upset when I think about that, because the two people involved are both friends of mine, great friends and I don't know what I'd do if I'd hurt either of them.
The next day at school, I feel unusually unhappy, I am trying to keep everything to myself. I don't want anyone to know what I did because "What if it didn't work out between the two of them?" Then I realize the words I'm saying and it catches me off guard because I'm usually very optimistic and I'm already planning for a break-up? That was not right! "What happened to perfect for each other?" I yell to myself constantly throughout the day. At one point during the day, I gave in to temptation and went to the school counselor.
Mrs. Giordano: "James, what seems to be the problem? Your note seemed very unlike you."
Me: "I think I did something bad."
Mrs. Giordano: "What do you mean, 'bad', it can't be that horrible. You're still alive and healthy, aren't you?"
Me: "Well, yes, but I think I did something that can cause two people a lot of pain."
Mrs. Giordano: "You're not dealing drugs, are you?"
Me: "ABSOLUTELY NOT, MRS. G!"
Mrs. Giordano: "You didn't kill anyone?"
Me: "NO!!"
Mrs. Giordano: "Well then it can't be that bad, can it?"
Me: "Well, not really. But I feel horrible if what I did doesn't work out for the two people I set up a meeting for."
Mrs. Giordano: "Please, tell me, James."
I explain the whole situation to her right from the very start. She seems to be very entranced by the story, like she's reading a really good book, but this is real life and I'm terrified. She listens carefully and works things out diligently in her head before responding and gives me some advice on what to do. "Just let things play out" she says to me confidently, "You can't do anything yet if they don't even know each other, can you? For all you know, it might work out, am I correct?" I keep the words she said in my head to remind me that there's always hope.

A few days later...
Virginia's POV:
11:47am...
My phone begins to ring and I am still sleeping a little, but I decide to pick it up. I look at caller ID and see that it's Jessica
Me: "Hey."
Jessica: "Did I wake you?"
Me: "Just a little, but that's alright."
Jessica: "I'm sorry, I can call back later if you want."
Me: "No, it's fine."
Jessica: "Well, James, Cody, and Kevin want to show you around the town. They wanted me to call you and let you know. They think that you would like to see what they're going to show you. But they don't want me to tell you."
Me: "Oh come on!" I get anxious, "I don't like being on the edge of my seat!"
Jessica: "You're going to have to come to find out!" she teases me a little.
Me: "Ugh, I'm up! What time do they want me to meet them and where?"
Jessica: "Temple Square at 1pm? Is that okay? If not, I can call them and tell them another time which would better work for you?"
Me: "I'll be there, thanks for the heads up. Are you coming to Temple Square?"
Jessica: "Yeah. All of us will be there, don't worry."
Me: "Alright, see ya."
So I actually decide to get up, but as I do I think "Who knew having such energetic friends would kill me like this" and I laugh. I take a shower, get a nice outfit on, and get ready to leave the resort. My mother and father are still sleeping, "Lucky Them" I think. They'd go nuts if they didn't know where I was. I write a note saying:
"Mom, Dad...
My new friend, Jessica, called and told me that my friends Cody, James, and Kevin wanted to show me around town, with Casey and Veronica. She said they had something special to show me and you know me when it comes to surprises, I MUST KNOW! So I am going to meet them all at Temple Square and they will take me from there. I have my cell phone so if you want to check up on me and see how everything's doing, just call. I hope you don't mind, thanks.
Lots of Love,
Virginia"
