"Long Awaited" Chapter 45: "Not A Good Sign"

David's Point Of View:

Me: "Ouch-where am I?"

Demi: "Miley, he's waking up!"

Miley: "Perfect."

One of the two voices that I heard I recognized and immediately I wanted to jump up and run away, but I couldn't...I was too weak and I couldn't move. Soon, as I struggle to get the ropes off, I feel a breath on my neck again...

Miley: "How are you doing, sweetie?"

Me: "Get away from me!"

Selena: "Now, now, don't be so hasty, David."

Me: "Who are the other two?"

My eyes are like little slits as I try to open them. I feel so groggy and I can barely breathe right. What did this girl hit me with?

Miley: "This is Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez."

Me: "There's more of you?"

Miley: "Shhh, shhh, quiet..."

And as soon as she said that, my head topples over to my left side and I'm out again.

Virginia's Point-Of-View:

A few hours after we found out about what happened to David, Ray told me he wanted me back in Utah as fast as possible.

"Ray, it's not like I'm the President's wife!" I object.

"Yeah, but if they have David, they might come back for you," he says.

"Not if it's the girl I know it is," I say.

Still in complete shock, I really haven't a clue what to say or what to do. But since Ray said that I should go back to Utah, we compromised. I went to tell my parents the problem and they agreed that should go back to Utah, but as first sign the police need me, fly back immediately. That was the compromise I wanted...but I wanted to stay in New York just in case David showed up. But, honestly...I knew he wouldn't...not with him in Miley's custody.

So that night, we catch a later flight to Utah and fly back. First stop is David's family's house. it would be better hearing it from me and not the media. They would be traumatized if the media knew before them. I knock on the door, it's really late. Thankfully, they are 3 hours behind New York time so it's only 12 midnight there. I still felt really bad waking them up...but it really couldn't wait until the morning. I hear scuffling from inside and then Amber rubs her eyes and opens the door. She was going to college nearby.

Amber: "Virginia! What's the matter? Where's David?"

Me: "Uhh, that's what I need to talk to you about. Can you get the rest of the family? It would not be appropriate for me to wake them up."

Amber: "Surely I would."

She lets me inside and I stand pacing the downstairs living room for a long time. Then I hear Lupe and Daniel rushing down the stairs. They knew it could not be good if I was here at midnight. I could already hear Lupe's tears in the back of my mind. I almost duetted with them.

Lupe runs over to me and gives me a hug, quickly. "Jeff's on his way, honey."

"Good..." I sigh.

Daniel: "Virginia, what's the problem?"

Me: "Uhh, let's wait for Dad to come."

Jeff comes down the stairs really fast. He knows that I would normally not come this late and that something is wrong.

Jeff: "Gin, what's the matter?"

Me: "Could y'all sit down?"

Lupe and Jeff sit together on the couch and Daniel and Amber sit side-by-side on the love seat. I can tell they're all terrified.

Daniel: "Wait, where's David?"

Me: "That's kind of what I have to talk about now..."
