"Long Awaited" Chapter 47: "The Missing Link"

Virginia's Point-Of-View:
8 months later...
I was a wreck without David. After a month of Utah, I was sick and tired and I had to go back. I stayed with my parents and I told them that I was pregnant so it was no surprise to see me getting bigger. My mother liked to see me like this, but I didn't know why. I just thought it reminded her of how she was with me. I was happy that she was happy, but on the inside...the only thing keeping me from letting myself go was being pregnant. It was the only physical reminder of David that I had. Thankfully, we knew who it was, but the only problem was that there was no way of getting to her. This means that there was no way of getting to David. Thinking about that made me dejected and I just wish there was a way to get to him...but by now, I was ready to plan a funeral. I was that sure he was too long gone that he couldn't still be alive. The Archies were the best fans ever. They knew my feelings and they were there for me. They knew how I felt as soon as I put up the public service announcement stating I think David might be gone. They were there. They would talk to me. They would comfort me. They would try to cheer me up, but I knew that they felt the same way except for the being pregnant thing. Anyway, for the past few months, I've been wearing black. I think that is the most common color in my closet now. Honestly, my hope was almost all gone, that was before I received that one call.
Chase: "Virginia, we need you down at the police station now."
Me: "Why? What's the problem?"
Chase: "There is someone here who refuses to talk to me. She demands to speak to you! She says she has information on the whereabouts of your husband."
Me: "Are you serious?"
Chase: "Just get down here!"
My mom was standing by my side and she could hear what Chase was saying. She offered to take me to the police station immediately because I was really large. My mom joked with me about that. I thought it was funny. So we got in the car and she drove me there. She helped me out and we rushed, as fast as we could, into the building. Chase was waiting by the receptionist's desk and smiled when he saw how big I'd gotten.
Chase: "Whoa, how far along are you?"
Me: "8 and a half months."
Chase: "Looks like it."
Me: "HEY! Anyway, where's this person?"
Chase: "Right this way."
He goes in back of me, to make sure I didn't topple over. He dictated which way to go and then I saw a 20something year old girl. She looked not over 25. She was a brunette and wore a fake smile, I knew to calm herself down. When she saw me, she stood up and reached out to shake my hand.
Marissa: "Oh, this is worse than I thought. Oh, hi Mrs. Archuleta."
Me: "Just call me Virginia."
Marissa: "Okay, should we go somewhere more private?"
Chase: "Yeah, go into the interrogation room over there. It's fine."
Chase followed Marissa and I into the room and I sat down diagonally right of her and Chase, to my right. Marissa sat down in front of us.
Marissa: "I have some information about your husband."
Me: "Okay, what would you like to say?"
Marissa: "Miley is one of my friends. She told me everything about this just a week ago. I know where she is and I know how to get there."
Me: "Why would you tell us this? Do you want something in return?"
Marissa: "No, I love David Archuleta. I just want him back."
Me: "Okay, where is she?"
Marissa: "Miley is keeping David in a house on Long Island. She said she loves him and is not going to let him go. I don't know why. She has two accomplices named Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez."
Chase and I look at each other and then at Marissa. our mouthes are hanging open.
Me: "Well, thank you very much, Marissa. Chase, we're going to have to go now."
Marissa: "Hurry and find him. I don't know what she's done with him. All I know is he's alive."
